Attempt number two on high fire glazing. I've found 18 pieces that needed to be glazed and I'm going to try my luck at high fire again. Hopefully this time my results will be better and I'll have pieces to show for it.
I am now waiting on my pieces to go into the high fire kiln. First we are running a greenware kiln, which gives me the chance to see my new slip design pieces. I used a blue died porcelain slip to color on of them and left the other a regular porcelain slip. Fingers crossed they hold up through firing.
I have completed two cups and a bowl out of terra cotta now and am ready to glaze and fire them. I will first do the smaller pieces then the larger ones. I'm hoping that I wedged everything perfectly and that they'll come out of the kiln perfect.
I've started glazing my pieces with high-fire glazes and I'm super excited to see how the combinations I chose will come out. My teacher let me use the catalogs she has to find specific combinations.
